Automotive Guide Mobile Car Wash Parking Etiquette

If you operate a mobile car washing company you are doing business on other people’s or company’s property with their permission. The easiest way to get that permission revoked is to not follow common decency, block traffic or upset motorists in the parking lot. It goes without saying that you should be hyper vigilant of what is going on in the parking lot at all times. Not only so you can spot your next customer but also so you can move out of someone’s way without inconveniencing them.

From a pure marketing standpoint it’s extremely important to park your vehicle in a high visibility place to allow for vehicle advertising. Try to park it directly in front of stores facing perpendicular to passers by when possible. Example; if you go out to see a movie, take the truck, then try to park where everyone walks by. Put flyers on your truck, van or car wash rig under the windshield wiper, window jams, etc. When you come back some of the flyers will be gone; this is smart marketing. You get to see Star Wars and you are advertising at the same time. Your truck is a billboard and should have good color coordination and contrasting logos for high visibility. Who can miss it? If you go to the mall, drive around the extra three minutes to get the perfect spot. Back in if you can. If you are going somewhere for the day, take your truck and park it in a lot next to the busiest intersection in town and leave it there. On Saturday park at a temple. On Sunday try a church and come back at the end of the day, be careful of course not to be too obvious. Remember where you park and how you park is a reflection of how your customers perceive you.

Compact Stalls

Try to refrain from parking in compact stalls. Your mobile unit is too big and people get upset because it’s difficult to maneuver around your vehicle and open doors. When people are angry and have old cars with solid steel doors, they may not care and they may open their doors into your beautiful truck; to them is just a work truck. They shouldn’t be too angry however, because they too have a big car that shouldn’t be in the compact stall either. If you have to park in a compact stall be sure to center your truck perfectly between the lines. This will prevent animosity towards you and your business.

Think about everything you do and how this affects your business image.
