The Mitsubishi Eclipse has been made available in two trim levels which are the GS and the GT. It also has been crafted as either a passenger family coupe or a sports coupe. It held two doors and held the capacity and capability to take in a maximum of four people in its cabin. It actually was launched in the year 1989 however it was introduced as an all new 1990 mode. It was launched along with the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser and at present, the Mitsubishi Eclipse is the only one still running through the streets and roads.

The highest in rank with regards to power and amenities was the Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and this vehicle held a turbocharged engine as well as an all wheel drive system.

For this year, 2006, the Mitsubishi Eclipse was redesigned. The GS trim level came equipped with a standard 2.4 liter I4 engine that was quite capable of producing some 162 units of horsepower. It could take the Mitsubishi Eclipse some 23 miles per gallon during driving in the city and some 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Standard for this vehicle is a five speed manual transmission system with overdrive. Given as an option was the four speed automatic transmission system with overdrive. As per the other trim level, the GT, it came equipped with a standard 3.8 liter V6 engine that had the capacity to produce 263 units of horsepower for the Mitsubishi Eclipse. It takes the Eclipse some 18 mpg in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. Made standard is a six speed manual transmission system with overdrive and given as an option is the five speed automatic transmission system with overdrive.
